UTILITY CONCRETE PRODUCTS (UCP)
WEBSITE
CASE STUDY
Modern, user-focused website redesign improves navigation, engagement, and conversion opportunities.
Utility Concrete Products (UCP) serves the transportation, communication and electrical industries by providing high-quality precast concrete solutions for infrastructure developments across the Midwest. Since 1970, the Morris, Illinois-based company has partnered with contractors, engineers and owners to deliver industry-leading products and customer service.
The Challenge
UCP had a website that no longer met the needs of their business or customers. The site was outdated, not mobile-friendly and lacked the structure and functionality to effectively highlight their product offerings and extensive project work.
The leadership team at UCP knew they needed a better experience for both existing and prospective clients. They wanted to make it easy to explore their products and understand the scope of their capabilities.
Their goal was to build a more modern, conversion-focused website that would reinforce their reputation for quality and innovation, while making it easier for users to navigate, learn and inquire.
Strategy Execution
We kicked off the project with a discovery process to understand UCP’s pain points and goals. From there, we developed a new sitemap and navigation strategy focused on simplicity, clarity and better content flow. Our goal was to guide visitors to the information they needed without frustration or dead ends.
Content collection was a major component of the redesign. We collaborated with the UCP team to gather updated photos and new or rewritten copy across the site. We worked to ensure every webpage delivered value and told a clear story.
Our team presented UCP with multiple design concepts that balanced professionalism with visual appeal. To make a strong first impression on the homepage, we recommended a drone videographer to capture on-site footage of the facility and workers in action. The result is a striking introduction that immediately communicates UCP’s scale and expertise.
We also overhauled the way users interact with UCP’s products and projects. The product category and project pages were redesigned for easy browsing, featuring “lightbox” pop-up windows that allow users to view product or project details and images without leaving the page. This keeps the experience clean and simple, which is especially important for busy engineers and contractors who want quick access to information.
Of course, the entire site was built to be fully responsive and mobile-friendly, with a clean interface that adapts to all screen sizes. And because we wanted UCP’s team to feel confident managing the site in the future, we used a content management system (CMS) that makes updates straightforward and efficient.
The Results
UCP now has a digital presence that reflects the strength and professionalism of its brand. The redesigned website makes it easier for users to explore the company’s offerings, view past projects and take the next step toward working together.
From the homepage drone video to the intuitive navigation and clean project galleries, the site now delivers a user experience that builds trust and drives engagement. Visitors can quickly see UCP’s vast capabilities, while the UCP team can easily update content and highlight their latest work.
The new website is key to UCP’s ongoing marketing efforts and supports the company’s mission to be a trusted leader in the precast concrete industry.
